Obediah Woodall (1837-1924) — Obediah’s Second Wife

Obediah Woodall married a second time on 8 January 1862 in Mason County, Virginia. He married Mary Jefferys, the daughter of William Elias and Catharine (Grimm) Jeffreys. Mary was born on 18 January 1835 in Mason County, Virginia.

Obediah lived in Union, Mason County, West Virginia with Mary through 1910. In the 1910 census, Obediah was listed as 72 years old and a farmer. Mary was listed as 75 years old and their daughter, Susan, who was 30 years old was also living with them.

Mary died on 30 January 1917 of apoplexy in Ripley, Jackson County, West Virginia. She was buried in the Long Hollow Cemetery in Jackson County, West Virginia.

Obediah Woodall moved to Vinton County, Ohio and was living with his son, Andrew O. Woodall at the time of the 1920 census. He was listed as 83 years old and widowed. Obediah died of a cerebral hemorrhage on 17 September 1924 in Wilkesville, Vinton, Ohio at the age of 86. He was buried with Mary in the Long Hollow Cemetery in Jackson County, West Virginia.

Obadiah Woodall and Mary Jefferys had the following children:

  • Elizabeth Jane Woodall was born 30 November 1862 in Mason County, West Virginia. She married Daniel Alfred Hysell on 18 January 1885 in Mason County, West Virginia. She died 9 September 1931 in Lorain County, Ohio. She is buried in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Elyria, Lorain, Ohio.
  • Mary Ellen Woodall born April 1864 and died of measles on 26 April 1864 in Mason County, West Virginia.
  • William Richard Woodall was born on 13 December 1864 in West Virginia. He married first Willie Evaline French on 31 December 1885. He married second Donna B. French on 3 April 1921. William died on 4 December 1955 in Leon, Mason, West Virginia. He was buried in the Leon Cemetery in Leon, Mason, West Virginia.
  • James Boyd Woodall was born on 26 November 1866 in Mason County, West Virginia. He married Viva Norris on 24 December 1896 in Jackson County, West Virginia. He died 20 January 1953 in Chillicothe, Ross, Ohio. He was buried in the Grandview Cemetery in Chillicothe.
  • Benjamin Franklin Woodall was born 5 April 1869 in Point Pleasant, Mason, West Virginia. He married Luella J. Griffith about 1907. He died 2 March 1960 in Carlton County, Minnesota. He was buried in the Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Itasca, Minnesota.
  • Susan Alice Woodall was born 22 September 1871 in Mason County, West Virginia. She died 5 January 1931 in Wilkesville, Vinton, Ohio. She was buried in the Long Hollow Cemetery in Jackson County, West Virginia. Susan never married.
  • Cora Belle Woodall was born on 6 November 1873 in Ripley, Jackson, West Virginia. She married William L. Kessell on 24 May 1896 in Mason County, West Virginia. She died on 5 February 1953 in Evans, Jackson, West Virginia at the age of 79. She was buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Parchment Valley, Jackson, West Virginia.
  • Andrew Obadiah Woodall was born 12 February 1875 in Jackson County, West Virginia. He married Verna Norris on 21 December 1901 in Jackson County, West Virginia. He died 20 January 1960 in Vinton County, Ohio. He was buried in the Vinton Memorial Cemetery in Vinton, Gallia, Ohio.
